Act to Change
7th Annual Day Against Bullying and Hate
Act to Change is national nonprofit organization working to end bullying for Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) youth. In May, they celebrated their 7th Annual Day Against Bullying and Hate - an annual event commemorating the birthday of Vincent Chin and recognizing the impact of global changemakers leading the fight against bullying during AAPI Month.
This year's theme was "The Future of Allyship". During the day, they celebrated their revamped Youth Ambassador Program and by night, they honored individuals and organizations making a difference. In 2025, the events took place at Lavan in midtown Manhattan and the motion graphics were projected on walls around the room.
The vision for the day event was contemporary, bright, and optimistic. Since the theme was based on the future, the graphic designer, Emmy Truong, chose sans-serif type in a bold neon yellow (that could also carry over to the night event) and created the beautiful background gradient that symbolized waves of change. We also added fun hand-drawn animation to complement the energy of the youth ambassadors.
I created 10+ unique assets for the projection mapping during the day. The gradient looped on all four main walls throughout the event while the titles for the speakers, panel, and graduation transitioned according to the live schedule.

In the evening, Act to Change hosted global changemakers and awarded partner organizations that supported their work over the year. Emmy carried over the daytime futuristic neon yellow to night designs that were inspired by Asian night market signs.
I created 20+ unique assets for the projection mapping during the evening. The NYC skyline dominated the space while neon titles corresponded to the food vendors, speakers, performance, and award ceremony.
